During IDCC20 Frances Madden (British Library) will present the paper "Building the Picture Behind a Dataset".

The paper describes work on augmenting dataset metadata with provenance information using persistent identifiers. Using two pilot datasets, we experimented with how to represent this information using the DataCite metadata schema and how to capture this information in an ongoing fashion. The paper also describes future plans for the DataCite metadata schema and how they will incorporate support for other types of identifiers in the next major release, version 5.0.
