EOSC-hub and FREYA sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
On the 27th of July 2020, EOSC-hub and FREYA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) with a view to collaborate and join activities for the long run.
EOSC-hub is a project set up to create the Hub - an integration and management system of the future EOSC. It offers researchers a virtual environment with open and seamless services for storage, management, analysis and re-use of research data, across borders and scientific disciplines by federating existing scientific data infrastructures, currently dispersed across disciplines and the EU Member States.
FREYA is a 3-year project that aims to extend the infrastructure for persistent identifiers (PIDs) as a core component of open science, within the EOSC and globally. FREYA works to improve the discovery, navigation, retrieval, and access to research resources. New provenance services will enable researchers to better evaluate data and make the scientific record more complete, reliable, and traceable. By engaging with the global community through the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and other research infrastructures, we work together to realise the vision of fully accessible data.
The projects have agreed to work together on the following areas:
-
the place of PIDs in the EOSC Federating Core
-
the integration of a PID Services Registry into the EOSC Portal
-
EOSC-hub will advertise training events organised by FREYA on PIDs and will store FREYA training materials in its training registry
-
a joint event in November 2020 to advertise the results of the joint activities and the achievements of both projects
